No, this is not the case. Although it is tempting (and common conspiracy theory) to think that there are secret cures for cancer and infectious diseases that are being hidden from the public, I strongly believe that this is not true. From an ethical standpoint this would be highly unethical for researchers and/or physicians to keep secret. Not only that, but from a financial standpoint it would make more sense for the laboratory to sell the treatment on the market than to keep it a secret, as the pharmaceutical industry would pay a high price for these kinds of treatments. If you are referring to newly created pharmaceuticals that could potentially cure illnesses, yes they are likely being studied in the lab setting; however, if the drug becomes promising for human treatment, it is usually taken to the FDA to be put on the market for human use as soon as possible. That is just my opinion, coming from a medical, ethical, and financial standpoint.
