Hi,
I think that this is a very subjective question that everyone will answer differently based on their own opinions and specialties. In my opinion, I think that the world's biggest public health crisis is nutrition. This is true from both an international standpoint, but also in the US. Proper nutrition is and has always been a difficult benchmark for lower socioeconomic families since healthy, diverse diets are time consuming to prepare and expensive to make. Childhood obesity is rising quickly in the US and there are a lot of factors that affect that such as, income, access to fresh food, and the roles of the sugar and fast food industries. As malnutrition continues to be present in the developing world, childhood mortality and future success in their communities is effected. Childhood obesity in the States will lead to a generation of people with heart disease, diabetes, and other health consequences related to obesity. If we don't work upstream and effect the factors that influence nutrition, our global society will suffer from a collective decline in health in the next few decades.
