How do I get iMessage to work on my Mac?

Open Messages on your Mac and, if you have not, sign in with your Apple ID. If you want to sync messages with your iPhone (to avoid separate conversations with your contacts) turn on Messages in the Cloud on your Mac in Messages>>Preferences>>iMessage and on your iPhone in Settings>> AppleID [your name]>>iCloud>>Turn on Messages
