Learn the Basics of Math and MATLAB with Former MIT Research Engineer
MATLAB is the best. It is very easy to use. Visualizations are great. You can quickly iterate through several options and optimize your solution. There are many "toolboxes" for specialized topics so that you do not need to reinvent the wheel. It will also help with your resume when you graduate.
