A floor plan has been prepared for a new building, drawn to a scale of 3/4 inch = 1 foot. A certain area is drawn 1 and 1/2 feet long and 6 inches wide on the floor plan. What are the actual dimensions of this area in the new building?________feet long and_______feet wide.

3/4 inch=1 foot

1 1/2 feet long by 6 inches wide

1 1/2 feet=18 inches

18/(3/4)=18*(4/3)=24 feet long

6/(3/4)=6*(4/3)=8 feet wide

This is how I would do these kind of problems

 

If ¾ inch is to 1 foot

 

If ¾ is to 12 inch

 

If 3 inch is to 12*4 inch

 

If 3 inch is to 48 inch

 

If 3 inch is to 3*16 inch

 

If 1 inch is to 16 inch

 

½ inch is to 8 inch. That's your answer.
