Usually inpatient productivity is calculated by length of stay. Obviously a longer LOS is going to result in a much larger chart to review. Typically any chart between 7-14 day LOS would qualify for a production of 2 records. A 14-21 day stay 3 record production and so on. AHIMA has production guidelines but it really has to be determined by the facility and the types of charts being coded. It is important to remind every coder that quality is far more important than quantity.
