Time Machine is a built in feature of Mac OS to create snapshots of files and folders. It backs up your entire Mac, including all of your files, photos, music, apps, system files, preferences, and email. Because it takes a snapshot, it keeps a copy of every file from that day as well as how your system looked that day.
