How do I stop remote access to my computer?

There is a checked box in the remote access section of the control panel. If you uncheck it, it will stop a normal person from gaining access to your computer. Also, if you have installed a search bar on your favorite browser, those search bars act as a remote access portal on your pc for viruses and spyware to be planted onto your computer.
