ANSWER: 20
 
In this sequence you are multiplying 2 and then subtracting 2
 
So you start with a 3. You multiply 3 by 2 to get 6 and then you subtract 2 from 6 to get 4 then you multiply 4 by two to get 8 and so on. 
 
So if you carry out this pattern, the next number is 20.
