In short, yes, climate change can be responsible for the spread of “new diseases” or diseases that were once eradicated such as Anthrax. Diseases such as dengue fever are thriving due to longer rainy season which causes flooding and what animal loves still water? Mosquitoes. These are called zoonotic diseases which means the transfer from animal to human diseases. Another example is Lyme disease increasing across North America. The migration of animals to cooler parts of the globe can contribute to the increase in zoonotic diseases. Recently, we have seen malaria appear in the States which hasn’t been seen in decades.
