A good medical coder needs to have a desire to solve puzzles. A coder does this on a daily basis. You need to be patient to do the research that is sometimes required. You need to commit the time and effort into learning a new language and learning to use the books or software. I have done Medical Billing and Coding for 30 years. I have never been sorry. I am also a nurse and can read the medical reports really well. This is a good talent to have also.
