ICD 10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, version 10) coding refers to the codes representing various diagnoses, for example "asthma" or "obesity." CPT (current procedural terminology) codes "are used to describe tests, surgeries, evaluations, and any other medical procedure performed by a healthcare provider on a patient. As you might imagine, this code set is extremely large, and includes the codes for thousands upon thousands of medical procedures." (This is quoted from https://www.medicalbillingandcoding.org/intro-to-cpt/)
Most doctor-patient encounters will have a CPT code (at least one) with associated ICD 10 (or diagnosis) codes.
