A BSW is generalist practice, meaning you learn the basics of social justice and begin learning ways in which to address those issues. An MSW gives one the opportunity to pick a concentration and your educational journey will focus on the concentration. For example, my concentration was Social Work and Business in the Global Society. This afforded me the opportunity to learn about corporate social responsibility, EAPs, and non-traditional social work practice. Once you obtain your MSW you can also begin working towards full licensure (LCSW) where you can go into private practice and bill insurance companies for services.
