B5 power chord in A minor?

I'm trying to write a rock/punk song in the key of A minor and the chorus goes: B5, C5, G5, F5. The B chord in A minor is B diminished, does that mean I have to use the diminished chord or can I use the power chord?

Follow your intuition about what sounds best for the song. The upper F# doesnt create any dissonance in this context and cleanly resolves up a half step to the top of C5. The only potentially harsh jump would be the tritone from F5 to B5 when the chord progression starts over, but if its sounding good in its context its right where it should be! Hope this helps!

You are not writing a classical song so you are free to do what sounds best for the song. Although, the B diminished chord resolves to C which is the relative Major of A minor.
