I am very passionate about Math and will make it as simple as possible
c + v = 8 —— Equation 1
3c + 12v = 51 ——Equation 2
Lets multiply Equation 1 by the number 3 so we can have the same number in front of c for both equations. We will get
3c + 3v = 24 —— New Equation
Now let’s subtract the new equation from equation 2
3c + 12v = 51
—
3c + 3v = 24
————————
0c + 9v = 27
We now have 9v = 27
We divide both sides by 9
v= 3
now we substitute v = 3 into equation 1
c + 3 = 8
Then subtract 3 from both sides of the equation
c + 3 - 3 = 8 - 3
c = 5
