mel is 3 years older than rahfat and aurelio is twice as old as mel. the sum of their age is 57. how old is mel.

r = m - 3

 

a = 2m

 

m + r + a = 57

 

substitute r = m - 3 and a = 2m in the above equation, you get

 

m + m - 3 + 2m = 57

 

4m = 60

 

m = 60/4 = 15
