Hello, Celeena
Ooohh, doing LITERAL EQUATIONS.... They can be scary but you do them just like you do any other type of equations.
Solving for c
2 = u- (c-x) Subtract u from both sides
-u -u
2-u = - (c-x)
2-u = -1(c-x) I put a -1 in front of the parenthesis to remind you that there is an imaginary negative one
in in front of -(c-x)
2-u = -c- x Using the Distributive Property.
+x +x Add x from booth sides to ISOLATE the variable c.
2-u+x =-c Multiply both sides by -1. You cannot have a negative variable as the final answer.
-2+u-x=c Rearranging the variables
u-x-2 =c
There you have it. Thanks for posting..
