We need a line that is parallel to y=3/4x+1 that goes through (8,-10). The formula for a line is y=mx+b Since it is parallel to the given line we already know the slope or m is 3/4, we know the x is 8 and y is -10, we just need to find the y-intercept or b. We can also use b=y-mx to find the y-intercept.
b=(-10)-(3/4(8))
b=-10-6
b=-16
The equation is
y=3/4x - 16
Let's plug this back into the y=mx+b formula to make sure
-10=(3/4(8)) - 16
-10=6-16
And that works.
