Huey has y dollars in his wallet. He buys a coat that costs $26 and spends the rest on 4 sandwiches. If all the sandwiches are the same price, show the cost of one sandwich in terms of y. 

 

If y=$34, how much did one sandwich cost.

Let's say each sandwich costs x dollars, then

 

y = 26 + 4x

4x = y - 26

x = (y-26)/4

 

So if you put in 34 for y, what would you get for x?
