Find the length of the base and the height

The height of the triangular shaped logo on a pair of jeans is 1 centimeter less than the length of it's base. If the area of the logo is 15 square centimeters, find the length of the base and the height

Area of triangle = 1/2 * base * height

 

base = b

height = b-1

 

15 =1/2(b)(b-1)

30 =b² -b

b² -b -30 =0

(b-6)(b+5) =0

b=6 Or b=-5

so base=b =6 cm

height =b-1 =6-1 =5cm
