How do i find a perimeter and rectangle length

I am trying to get the amswer to the following: If a rectangles length is 8 feet longer than its width. And the perimeter of the rectangle is 236 feet, what is the length of the rectangle?

let L be length

Let W be width

 

L = 8 + W

 

Perimeter 236 ft.

 

2L + 2W = 236

 

2(8 + W) + 2W = 236

 

16+ 4W = 236

 

4W = 220

 

W = 55

 

so, L = 8 + 55 = 63 ft.
