Let y = the number of donuts sold

x + y = 5680       x = 5680 - y

.12x + .16y = 785       Multiply both sides of this equation by 100 to get rid of the decimal points.

12x + 16y = 78500

12(5680 - y) + 16y = 78500

68160 - 12y + 16y = 78500

4y = 10340

y = 2585 donuts

x = 5680 - y = 5680 - 2585

x = 3095 cupcakes
