Shipping cost is what % of my order?

Question

My amazon purchase total was $00.06 to the same vendor for 6 different items arriving in one package. The shipping total was $31.00. How would I word the obvious problem with this order when contacting the vendor? What would the markup % be? $31.00 for shipping on a 6 cents total?

I can't even wrap my mind around this to even begin.

Hello Djay,

 

Use this:

 

     PM = S

 

where P is your subtotal ($0.06), M is the markup on that subtotal, and S is your shipping cost ($31.00).

 

Keep in mind that M will evaluate in decimal form. Convert it to a percentage by multiplying by 100%.

 

Looks to me like a 51,667% markup (!!!)
