If f(x) = y = mx+b;
the slope is m
and the vertical intercept (or y-intercept) is b.
The vertical intercept is always (x,y) = (0, b), the x is always 0.
So in your problem you are given f(x) = 8-9x
So in front of the "x" is -9 which means your slope m = -9
Also you see the 8 which has no "x" so your vertical intercept (or y-intercept) is 8.
Thus your answer:
1) slope = -9
2.) vertical intercept (x,y) = (0, 8)
