Suppose width of a rectangular field = w yards
so length of a field = 2w-4
Perimeter of rectangular field= 2( l+w)
262 = 2(2w-4+w)
262 = 2(3w-4)
divide by 2 both sides, we get
131 = 3w-4
135 = 3w
135/3= w
45 =w
Length= 2w-4 =90-4 = 86
Length = 86 yards, width = 45 yards
