If I have a 65 in a class than how does an 85 bring me down to a 64%?

I had a 65% in my class and i got a 85% and a 100% on a quiz that both counted as 40%, so how does that not bring me up?

The average of your two lmost recent scores is 185/2 = 92.5.

 

Then if this is 40% of your course grade, so far (and thus the prior avg 65 is 60%), then your current grade is

0.60(65) + 0.40(92.5) = 76
