Carlos owns an orchard. His apple trees produce 315 bushels of apples. Each bushel of apples weighs about 48 pounds. There are about 3 apples in each pound. About how many apples did Carlos' apple trees produce

First, find the number of apples in one bushel .  If there are 3 apples to a  pound and 48 pounds in a bushel, multiply

48 x 3 = 144 apples in one bushel

To find the number of apples in 315, multiply 144 x 315 =45,360 apples in 315 bushels
