The Booster Club has a goal of raising at least $700. The Club has already raised $100. The Booster Club is sponsoring a pancake breakfast and charging $7.00 per ticket.

What inequality would represent the number of tickets (t) that the Booster Club must sell to meet its goal?

Your answer is 86 tickets; the problem gets set up as follows   let T=tickets  

 

7T+ 100=700     subtract 100 (what was already raised) from both sides

   -100   -100 

7T=600   divide both sides by 7

T=85.7142857     since you can't sell a shade under 3/4 of a ticket you must round up. 

 

The Booster Club must sell 86 tickets
