In November 2009, Facebook had 109.7 million visitors who visited the site at least once. This number of visitors was 39.7 million more than the total number of visitors to Myspace and Twitter. The number who visited twitter was 31.8 million less than the number who visited MySpace. Find the number of visitors to MySpace and to Twitter.

f = facebook

t = twitter

m = myspace

 

f= m + t + 39.7 = 109.7

 

t = m - 31.8, which you can plug into the first equation

 

m + m - 31.8 + 39.7 = 109.7, solve for m

 

2m + 7.9 = 109.7

 

2m = 101.8

 

m = 50.9 million, solve for t now

 

t =  50.9 - 31.8 = 19.1 million

 

Together m + t = 70 million visitors
