Issues in importing a Autocad file to sketchup

I attempted to import an autocad file to sketchup to create 3d aspects on a 2d design i had made. the file imported but many of the lines were warped and crooked and ellipses i had gained straight edges. overall the drawing just looked very poor. I used splines in the autocad drawing and am wondering if that could have anything to do with it. Any advice on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
