asked 02/16/24How many lessons to write a song?
I am a vocalist wanting to write my own song. I do play guitar. Approximately how many lessons would it take to write my own pop /country song?

I would also say 3-4 lessons. The music is the easy part, but crafting a truly well done a memorable lyric is more complicated. I always have the goal of creating a song that will be covered by other artists down the road, not just completing a song. 1 Session Lyric, 1 Session Music, 1 Section putting it together and creating a rough demo. Then possibly 1 session to rewrite/edit and create a track! Of course this could be done faster or slower depending on the complexity. I'd use a couple of existing songs and borrow their framework to hit the ground running! You've got this. I see MANY original tunes in your future. - CHEERS
Your question is an exciting one asked by many young musicians, and believe it or not, song writing isn't that difficult with the right sources of inspiration!
We would most likely need 3-4 lessons in order to firstly, bring to the forefront of your mind what your actual motivation to write songs is. We would then go over the elements involved as relates to what it takes to get your songs completed, and sounding exactly as you imagine them within your mind. That last point is extremely important in developing a foundation for your personal creative work flow and direction.
Best Wishes!
Hey Christine! If you already feel confident on guitar, even if you just know a few chords, it would only take a lesson or two for us to flesh out a pop/country song. The first lesson we could spend going over the basics and the parts of the song, using examples of songs you love and aspire towards. Then in the next lesson I could help you walk through writing your own song!
