am I too old to start playing soccer?

I'm 15 years old and I have no experience in soccer. Am I too old to start playing? i'm scared other players will make fun of me because i'm really bad or that i would be placed with 13 year olds.. how would this work?

You're never to old to start playing!

If anyone makes fun of you it would only be because they are insecure about their own abilities. Can you imagine Messi, Ronaldo or Pele making fun of someone because they have an interest in playing? Never! They would just be excited to share their love of the game and expand the people that play it!

In US Soccer we use birth year to determine U12, U14, U19 teams etc. Meaning since your 15 you would put on a U16 or U19 team depending on how many teams your local club(s) have.

Most grassroots teams are participation based (avoid any teams that have try outs) and just go out there with other people looking to have fun!

If you have difficulty finding teams in your area let me know and I'll look and see if I can find any. In the meantime I'm glad you want to play and hope you do this coming fall season!
