Engineering Project Manager with 6+ years of Experience
You can find the information you're looking for on the PMI website here: https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project-management-pmp
I completed my PMP certification in 2019, and I'd be happy to guide you through the process together if you'd like.
Before you're able to take your PMP exam, you must have the following:
- A four-year degree
- 36 months leading projects
- 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification
— OR —
- A high school diploma or an associate’s degree (or global equivalent)
- 60 months leading projects
- 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification
Once this criteria is met, you will apply for the PMP exam submitting the requirements shown above. This is typically a fairly quick process. I have some templates / forms that can help you when submitting your information.
Once the application is accepted (usually is with minimal hick-ups), you can schedule your exam, which is a 3 hour session testing you on the content on Program Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). It's not recommended that you rely on your project management experience to take this exam, as it will test the exact terminology and scenarios presented in the PMBOK.
Again, don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to set up an infosession together.
