All 231 students in the Math Club went on a field trip. They used 15 vehicles, some vans and some buses. Each van holds 7 students and each bus holds 25 students. Find the numbers of vans and the number of buses they took.

7v + 25b = 231

7v + 7b = 105

subtract

18b = 126

b= 126/18 = 63/9 = 7 buses

v = 15-7 = 8 vans

7(8) + 25(7)= 56 + 175 = 231 students
