We need to rewrite the mixed numbers as fractions. We do this by multiplying the whole number by the denominator, then add the result by the numerator. This will be the numerator in the new fraction. Keep the same denominator.
(41/6) - n = (8/3)
-n = (8/3) - (41/6)
We need to have these fractions with common denominators. We do this by finding the LCD. LCD is 6.
-n = (8*2 - 41)/6
-n = -25/6
Divide both sides of equation by -1
n = 25/6
To turn this fraction back into a mixed number, we divide the numerator by the denominator using long division. The quotient when dividing will be the whole number and the remainder that we get when dividing will be the fraction part.
n = 4 1/6
