Project management newver really went away. The industries in which it was used became less. Now a days, it is often found in production and design industries. Anything from digital media, to marketing, to fabrication for science and tech.
A project is anything that has the ogal of creation (such as a product, pr service) and often has the constraints of time and a budget. There are often separate steps and departments that take on specific pieces of the project. The main attributes are the guildelines such as risks, requirements, stages, duration and overall goal of the project.
Some expamples include fabrication of space flight tech that can have about 50 people working collaboratively. Bigger projects such as a movie can have easily over 100 people.
