I would have said D. but a positive plus a negative always equals a negative!

A good test taking strategy is to reconsider you answer when it isn't present as a choice. When you got the answer 1 1/9, you should have gone back and considered all your possible mistakes; as you mentioned, there's a positive and a negative so the margin for error broadens.

 

"A" is the correct answer since the negative fraction is farthest com zero and combining integers of different signs means you will be finding the difference.
