For Federal income tax purposes, regular tutoring is considered a personal service and not tax deductible. However, if your child has special needs, you may be able to write of your child's tutoring as a medical expense if:
- you retained the tutor at the recommendation of your child's medical doctor
- the tutor is trained and qualified to work with your child
