Hey there. It really depends on what you're going for. Oftentimes custom templates are professionally designed and user-friendly, if you can find one that suits your purposes then by all means buy it, and then all you need to do is configure it to your purposes. If you can't find a template that fits your design, then the best course of action may very well be to build it yourself. Either way, you'll have to wire up the front and backend yourself, as what you'll actually be doing on the admin panel varies between pages.
