Revit Help
Point cloud modeling is an assimilated model, created by triangulation of points, and the program re-creates, TO IT'S BEST GUESS, the original part. These models are used largely for representation of existing elements, and gives a point of reference for future additions. Example, if I were to generate a point cloud model of a school that I wanted to create an addition to, I would import it into Revit, orient the model to the true geographic direction it is in, and create the model for the addition based on that. Just like building and addition, and the final tie in having to be done in the field, with "whatever it takes" to get it accomplished, so it is also approached in Revit. The point cloud model is always a point of reference; never intended to be a hard core, factual element. Keep it in context.
