Ok so is it possible to make key mappings for your keyboard using sound?

Question

So basically if you made like a certain sound and played it into your mic it would act as a key on your keyboard. Why I am trying to figure out is because I am trying to basically be able to use a guitar as a controller. :)) If anybody can help me plizzz do :P

There's a few ways to do this:

1. Get a keyboard with a sampler, or a MIDI keyboard that could read from a stand-alone sampler (sweewater has dozens of options either way). These allow you to sample real world sounds and trigger them with a key press
2. Get a MIDI guitar controller (google that) - Sweetwater sells a few as well. This allows you to use your guitar to trigger sounds from the keyboard
