There are only two choices...boys or girls.  So if 1/15 are girls, then 14/15 are boys.  The easiest way to think of this is to just divide the 1500 by 15, which is 100.  One group of 100 are girls, so 100 girls, and 14 groups of 100 are boys, so 1400 boys.
