In my experience, I have only used sticky notes when working with a team to identify dependencies between tasks or deliverable as we build a schedule. So the task goes on the sticky, the sticky goes on a whiteboard, and then we use dry erase markers to identify the dependencies. Once complete, the schedule is built based on the relationships that we identified between each task. Very useful. Once everything is in the schedule, I use custom views to pull look ahead information and task reports for team members.
