Well, syncopation, anticipation, etc are good ways to mix up chord progressions but it doesn't mean it will work in every case. At some point if there's a clash you'll have to sacrifice one or the other - meaning either make the melody fit the chords if you really like that anticipation or make the chords match the melody if you don't want to change the melody. You can also play with other rhythms that may line up better. Just think of that anticipation as a tool - a hammer is a great tool but not for all handiwork. :) Save it and use it for another idea if it's not working this time! Hope this helps! -s
