Why года instead of лет?

My Russian textbook gives the example, «Я родилась в июне сорок восьмого *года*.» Shouldn't genitive год following eighth be лет instead of года? Is this a mistake in my textbook? If not, could you please explain what's going on here? Is года in this formation simply a special case?

The ordinal numbers (in your case years) require ГОДА

for example:

I was born - Я родился в июне

2005 - две тысячи пятого года

1934 - тысяча девятьсот тридцать четвертого года

2019 - две тысячи девятнадцатого года

1598 - пятьдесят восьмого года

Name of the year requires ГОД

Number of years requires ЛЕТ (should answer a question How many?)

Мне 5 лет, Ему 29 лет

However, there are exceptions for 1, 2, 3, 4 - with these ones we use ГОД, also when a tens end with those digits

Мне 1 год, а ему 21 год

Ей 4 года, а им 34 года
