What is so special about the devil's interval?

I'm interested in learning more of the Devil's interval, how it originated, some of its uses and what exactly about the interval of a diminished fifth makes it sound ominous?

Hi, also commonly called tritone is a flat 5th interval above the tonic note. If you add a minor 3rd, would create a diminished triad. Adding a minor 7th to this diminished triad create the chord quality minor7th flat5. Example, A C Eb is A diminished triad

A C Eb G is Am7b5 chord.

They both have ominous feel due to b5 interval built on a minor 3rd.
