With more than...?

Question

How can I say "A book with more than 1000 pages"? As far as I know, "с более" or "с больше" does not make sense. Someone told me that there's not such a straightforward way to use "более/больше" preceded by a preposition requiring a case other than the accusative.

Книга, в которой больше (более) 1000 (тысячи) страниц.

Книга, в которой 1000 страниц. В книге 1000 страниц. Impossible to say 'книга с 1000 тысячью страниц' that's why we can not use preposition c in this sentence.

However, we can use a long form comparative degree after any preposition.

Я предпочитаю общаться с людьми с более высоким уровнем интеллекта. I prefer to communicate with people with a higher level of intelligence.

Здесь много людей с более серьёзными проблемами. There are many people with more serious problems.

Больше as the form of the comparative degree of the ADJECTIVE большой includes the meanings "bigger", "larger" -- if the adjective is part of the predicate (Этот дом больше.; or , "more" (in quantity) -- if the adjective is an attribute: Здесь больше людей.

2. Больше as the form of the comparative degree of the ADVERB много also means "sooner", "rather" (implying "than something else").

4. Более, again as the ADVERB, is used to form the comparative form of longer (and rarer) adjectives, participles and other adverbs, especially rarely used, borrowed, long or other which do not have one-word forms of the comparative degree.
