Они живут у меня дома and "Они живут в мой дом"?

Edit : My question is about preposition "IN" not about the verb "have" as you suggested.Can you open it again, please?I'm studying with duolingo and this is the first time I saw this kind of "in" preposition usage as "У меня ...".I always see it like " ... в ...".Can you explain this to me in terms of both grammar and colloquial speech aspects?Thanks in advance.

I don't know where you got the sentence "Они живут в мой дом," but it 's so obviously incorrect that it causes me distress just to type it.,

Here's the t hing. There are several prepositions that can take different cases, and в is one of them . When it's used with the accusative, as it is here, it means,,and MUST mean movement into. But живут is not a verb of motion. Therefore one can say:

Они живут в моем доме.

By the way, note that this sentence wold probably be translated as "They live in my building, " not "in my house." But this is a fairly formal construction. For whatever reason, Russians in everyday speech tend to avoid possessive pronouns, so they wold probably say,

"Они живут у меня в доме."
