Hello Trina,
In order for you to make a Function Table, or a Table of values, you need to choose a few values for x. In this example, I will choose the following values for x: -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3. You can choose as many as you want, but try to between 3 and 5 number. So, what you need to do next is plug in the different values of x into the original equation to find the values of y. Are you ready? Here we go! (sorry about the colors the computer is acting up :( )
This is the FUNCTION TABLE
x-value y= 2x+5 y-value (x,y)
-3 y= 2(-3) +5 -6+5 = -1 (-3,-1)
-2 y= 2( -2) +5 -4+5 = 1 (-2,1)
-1 y= 2 (-1) +5 -2+5= 3 (-1, 3)
0 y= 2( 0) +5 0+5= 5 (0,5)
1 y= 2(1)+ 5 2+5= 7 (1,7)
2 y= 2(2)+5 4+5= 9 (2, 9)
3 y= 2(3)+5 6+5= 11 (3, 11)
I hope this helps and keep asking for help.
