If she spent 40% of her money, and we are interested in how much she did NOT spend,we think of the money she got as 100% and subtract 40% from that to get 60%. She did not spend 60%. Now, they want the answer not as a percent but as a fraction. 60% = 60/100 Reduce that, and what fraction do you get?
